Rías Baixas I Destination of relaxation


The Queen of Africa is based in the port of Portonovo , in the municipality of Sanxenxo. It is one of the most important tourist enclaves of the Rías Baixas, due to its special microclimate , to the fantastic beaches that follow each other along its 36 km. And the wide availability of services aimed at the visitor. It is also an area of ​​great maritime and fishing tradition.

The so-called Rías Baixas , are strung between Baiona and Fisterra. They are those of greater extension and those that of a uniform way extend from southwest to northeast. These are the estuaries of Vigo , Pontevedra , Arousa and Muros-Noia . On its shallow coastline, the rocky and brackish cliffs are linked with wide sandy areas , accessible from the ground, following the wide road network, or from the sea, taking advantage of the numerous ports .

In addition, the fiestas and pilgrimages that take place throughout the year, especially during the summer, will allow the visitor to enter into the deepest Galician traditions and beliefs. ​

By plane 

The closest airports to the Rías Baixas are those of Santiago de Compostela and Vigo.
  • Lavacolla Airport is located 10 km from the center of Santiago de Compostela and approximately 29.9 km from the Rias Baixas. From it operate different companies like Air Europa, Air-Berlin, Iberia, Ryanair or Vueling.
  • Vigo Airport is located 9 km from the city center of Vigo.

There are 3 major road access routes for the Rías Baixas, bound for its largest city, Vigo: 

Madrid and Vigo are connected by the Autovía del Noroeste (A-6) and the Autovía das Rías Baixas (A-52). They are 667 kilometers away that are made in an average of six hours. 
To get to Vigo from Portugal we will take the A3 that connects Oporto, Lisbon and Braga with the Spanish border and which links to the AP-9 and A-55 that will leave you in the center of Vigo. 
Finally, to move by car through Galicia the best option is the Autopista del Atlántico (AP9), which links Vigo and A Coruña to Pontevedra and Santiago de Compostela.
